+ADVANTAGE
Alentejo · Comporta · For estate and hotel managers

First aid training for wine estates and country hotels in the Alentejo.

When a guest collapses at breakfast, chokes at dinner or is pulled from the pool, the first person to help is whoever is on duty. We train your team at your hotel, in short sessions that fit around your shifts, in English or Portuguese.

Why hotels

Guests who come for the silence and the space: horses, vineyards, trails, pools and the cellar. And estates where the ambulance can be half an hour away or more, so the first minutes belong to your team.

01
Far from the hospital
When help takes 30 to 60 minutes, the team has to keep a guest alive and stable for much longer: CPR, the AED, bleeding control and the recovery position.
02
Horses, bikes and trails
Falls from a horse or a bike, fractures and suspected spinal injuries, often far from the main house and with poor phone signal.
03
Alentejo heat
Heat stroke and dehydration on summer days above 40 °C, in guests on walks, at the pool or at an outdoor tasting.
04
Cellar and harvest
Cuts and falls during the harvest, and carbon dioxide in fermentation tanks: why nobody goes in to rescue without making it safe first.
05
Stings and allergies
Bee and wasp stings, severe allergic reactions and anaphylaxis, including how to use an adrenaline auto-injector.
06
Wildfire and evacuation
An estate surrounded by fields and scrub: raising the alarm, the first response to a fire and evacuating guests safely.

Each proposal is tailored to your hotel: the number of people, the shifts and the dates. Both options count towards the 40 hours of annual training required by article 131 of the Portuguese Labour Code, and support the employer duties set out in article 75 of Law 102/2009.

How it works

At your hotel
Our trainers come to you with manikins, AED trainers and first aid kits. Exercises take place where your team works: the restaurant, the pool, reception.
Shift-friendly
The course can be split into shorter sessions on different days, so every shift can take part without leaving reception or the restaurant uncovered.
English or Portuguese
Delivered in English or Portuguese, for international teams. We confirm a trainer who teaches the whole course in English before we set the dates.
Certified provider
+Advantage is a DGERT-certified training provider (C 6146). Everyone who completes the course receives a vocational training certificate from us.

Also in English: Porto and the Douro Valley · Hotels and resorts in the Algarve

Frequently asked questions

Do you come to our estate?

Yes. All our training for companies is in-house: we travel to your estate in the Alentejo or Comporta, bring all the equipment, and use your own spaces for the exercises: the cellar, the pool, the stables.

Can the training be delivered entirely in English?

Yes. We deliver the course in English or in Portuguese. Before setting the dates, we confirm a trainer who will teach the whole course in English.

How do you work around our shifts?

We split the course into shorter sessions on different days, agreed with you. Each session keeps the same group together, so the team trains as a team and service is not interrupted.

Does it count towards the mandatory training hours?

Yes. Portuguese law requires employers to provide at least 40 hours of training per worker each year (article 131 of the Labour Code). As a DGERT-certified training provider, our certificates count towards those hours.

Which legal obligations does it cover?

Article 75 of Law 102/2009 requires every workplace to have an internal structure for emergencies and first aid, evacuation and firefighting. Option B trains your team in all three in a single course; Option A covers first aid.

Which option should we choose?

For most hotels we recommend Option B: it trains the same people for a medical emergency, a fire and an evacuation, which is what a hotel emergency team needs. Option A suits teams that already have fire and evacuation training.
